OKTOBERFEST IN SEPTEMBER?

Food, music, entertainment, arts and craft booths and beer! What more can there be. Well, check out the Oktoberfest next weekend and find out!

German tradition will be celebrated in Lions Park with the Oktoberfest Sept. 9.
Food vendors will sell German food that's essential to any Oktoberfest: bratwursts, turkey legs, German potato salad, sauerkraut, German sausage, roped sausage and kielbasa.

American fall festival favorites will include nachos, hamburgers, hot dogs and Sno Cones and Indian Tacos.

Rick Tillery, who's also known as "The Postman" from the Cheyenne Gunslingers, said the western shooting group are joining the Oktoberfest festivities for the first time.

There will be two live bands: Rich Como of Rock Springs will perform polka music and Avenue, a Cheyenne rock and roll band.

The beer area at Oktoberfest has been expanded to include Guinness, Coors, Coors Light, Budweiser, Bud Light, Samuel Adams, St. Pauli Girl and other fall fest beers and foreign beers, Brutsman said.

There will be a stein holding contest for adults and children. Adults in first, second and third places will win glass steins from Budweiser and other prizes. Participates in the children's stein holding contest will be given candy. The best time of the day will be rewarded with a children's stein, a root beer glass or a gift item.

The Oktoberfest will have a variety of arts and craft vendors. Doesn’t this sound like a great time? Hope to see you there!
