As the curtain closed Sunday on another Cheyenne Frontier Days, committee chairmen another successful year. This year saw a few records broken or almost matched. The 2002 record for the Behind the Chutes Tour was broken and the attendance for the pancake breakfast came in as the second highest. General Chairman Ken McCann said while numbers were not available yet, he thought attendance was up from last year just from looking around.
Parades Chairman, Bill Larson, said he thought there were more people at the parades this year than last year. He said there was a lot of excitement in the air.
"The hospitality of Cheyenne is overwhelming," he said.
Contestants chairman, Jim Mueller, said the stock in the rodeo was high quality this year, especially the times stock and the bucking stock. He said he didn't have one complaint about the stock this year, which is "a great tribute to the stock contractors." Boomgaarden said one thing that struck her was the increasing presence of international groups. "This isn't just a local or domestic event. It's an international event," she said.
Boomgaarden also noted the royalty at CFD. She said Miss Frontier Julianna "Boo" Edwards and Lady in Waiting Katie Landers set a new standard. "I'm very very proud of them," she said.
